This year, the first drugs based on medical cannabis will appear in pharmacies in Ukraine. They will be prescribed to patients with certain diseases and will be dispensed exclusively with an electronic prescription from a doctor.

In August 2024, a law on the legalization of medical cannabis came into force in Ukraine, which regulates its circulation for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and scientific and technical activities.

According to Inna Ivanenko, Executive Director of the "Patients of Ukraine" Foundation, during the year they created a regulatory framework and approved a list of diseases, forms of release of drugs, and determined the procedure for their circulation.

The most common cannabis-based medicines are oral drops. It is from them that the market for medical cannabis products will open in Ukraine.

Currently, we are only talking about the import of such drugs, but the founder of the Ukrainian Cannabis Consulting Group, Hanna Glushchenko, said that in the future, enterprises will appear in Ukraine that will grow and process medical cannabis.

The Medical Cannabis Association noted that it is important for Ukraine to launch its own production, because in the future this will reduce the cost of drugs and make them more accessible.
